KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A drug raid on one of Kalamazoo’s meanest streets has shut down what was an open market for illegal drugs.
Five different dealers were operating out of a home in the 600 Block of Ada, which had little furniture or food and was apparently solely being used for the distribution of drugs.
The warrant was sworn out after Public Safety had received numerous complaints about traffic at the location. Four of the dealers headed for the back door as soon as they saw officers approaching the home on Friday.
Officers were already waiting at the back door and took them all into custody. Six more suspects were subdued by the Metro SWAT team inside the home.
The raid produced 40 grams of crack, marijuana, ammunition and a lot of cash.
Three suspects in their 20’s were charged with a variety of drug counts, two were arrested on outstanding warrants and a 15-year-old listed as a runaway was turned over to Child Protective Services.
