BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A Battle Creek woman required treatment for smoke inhalation after she barely escaped from her burning home with her dog early Sunday morning.
Fire crews were dispatched to the home at 105 Winston Drive just before 7am. They found smoke pouring out of the windows.
The woman was initially treated at the scene until she could be transported to the emergency room.
They say she didn’t have working smoke detectors, and that may have contributed to her injuries.
Fire officials haven’t identified the cause but estimate the damage at about $48,000.
