KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Red Cross is making sure that the residents of the fire damaged Crosstown Parkway Senior Community have someplace to stay while management makes emergency repairs and addresses water damage, which may take until later this week or longer for some tenants.
Vickie Eichstaedt with the Red Cross says they are making alternative arrangements for those who remain displaced. They are working with the Management firm and several other local agencies to find empty beds for anyone who isn’t able to stay with friends or relatives.
She says that includes the 14 who remain at the shelter at the YMCA which they hope to be able to close on Wednesday.
Some of the residents of the high rise were allowed quick visits back to their apartments, escorted by Public Safety Officers, to retrieve medications, clothing, glasses, keys, laptops and other items left behind during the hurried evacuation early Saturday morning.
A gofundme page has been established to raise funds for 74-year-old Barbara Posey’s funeral. She was killed in the weekend fire.
