ST. JOSEPH COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — A man and a woman from White Pigeon are being held on gun and drug charges, but may also be facing a federal investigation after drugs and a large amount of holiday mail was found in their car was stolen.
The couple was parked along Mill Pond Road just east of White Pigeon, prompting and investigtion by a sheriff’s deputy on patrol Saturday afternoon. At the time the woman was burning mail inside the vehicle while the man watched.
A search of the car turned up what police say was a large amount of mail, methamphetamine, marijuana and a weapon.
They are matching up names and addresses on the mail and may turn over that part of the investigation to federal authorities, or may introduce their own charges. Pending arraignment, the pair is being held at the St. Joseph County Jail on drug counts and for carrying a concealed weapon.
