LEONIDAS TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — Sheriff’s deputies in St. Joseph County say they’re looking for a man who tried to remove the stereo from a vehicle that slid off the road in Leonidas Township early Wednesday.
Investigators say the victim was given a ride home to Union City by the suspect early Wednesday. After going to a gas station and returning to dig out his vehicle on Shannon Road near Blossom Road, the victim claims he found the suspect trying to remove the stereo. The incident was reported before 3:30 a.m.
The stereo was later recovered. The suspect’s vehicle was found on Chipper Road after he fled south from the scene.
Sheriff’s deputies say the suspect is 6-foot-4, weighs approximentally 250 pounds and has a reddish-brown beard. His vehicle had an improper Michigan registration.
