KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Several professors at Western Michigan University are asking school president John Dunn and campus media to publicly condemn president-elect Donald Trump’s selection to direct the Environmental Protection Agency.
Twenty-five instructors at the school are formally making the request.
“This appointment is one of the most frighting appointments that has ever been made,” English professor Allen Webb said. “We recognise climate change is one of the greatest threats to planet Earth.”
Webb claims Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt is a bad fit for the agency.
“He has led the effort in our country to dismantle America’s compliance with this agreement made in Paris to try to keep global warming to two degrees,” Webb said. “We cannot dismantle that compliance. We must do everything we can to limit global warming.”
Pruitt is a long-time petroleum industry ally and climate change denier. He’s currently suing the agency he’s set to take over.
