DEARBORN (WKZO-AM) — Predictions this fall that we would be seeing gasoline below $2 a gallon by now have not materialized.
In fact, AAA states that, at $2.27 a gallon on average, we are paying 41 cents more this year than at the same time last year.
They blame refinery issues and OPEC for the higher prices.
But AAA predicts that the completion of repairs at BP’s Whiting, Ind., refinery and the resumption of full production, with the addition of cheaper winter blends should result in lower prices in the coming weeks.
Gas prices in Kalamazoo on Monday were $2.31. The price in Grand Rapids $2.19. In Lansing, it’s $2.18.
