KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Do you know a bearded man who drives a red pick-up with a lion depicted on the back window of the cab? Detectives would like to talk to him about a couple of suspicious incidents involving school children.
The first happened last Tuesday when a young girl was approached along Oakland Drive, and offered a ride home by a man in a red pickup.
It happened again Wednesday morning when a young boy in the Winchell Neighborhood was also approached by a man in a red pickup. In both cases the children did exactly the right thing and ran home, notifying adults.
This time police got a better description. The suspect is a Hispanic or light skinned black bearded male who is about 50 years old. The truck has newer wheels and a rusted front wheel well.
Kalamazoo Public Safety is beefing up patrols in the area, advising children to walk in groups or with adults and asking everyone to be on alert for suspicious behavior.
