KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) The recount in Kalamazoo County has finished ahead of schedule, in fact instead of taking days, it was completed in about 12-hours Tuesday evening. The Count in Ingham County was also progressing faster than expected.
Kalamazoo County Clerk Tim Snow said he had 130 volunteers working at 63 tables and they were cruising through the piles of ballots.
The recounts in Calhoun and other counties in the area are scheduled to begin this morning, despite a Michigan Court of Appeals ruling that the state Board of Canvassers was wrong to greenlight the recount of November’s presidential vote in the first place.
There is still a Federal Court order issued by Judge Mark Goldsmith saying the recount should continue to conclusion, and that decision was upheld by the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals just before the State Court of Appeals made their ruling last night.
What does that mean? The Federal Court order supersedes the ruling by the state judges for now but the federal order is based simply on the issue of when the recount should begin.
The Attorney General and Trump Attorneys have asked Judge Goldsmith to lift his order and comply with the State Court of Appeals ruling. That hearing is scheduled for later this morning. In the meantime the recount continues.
