PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — The City of Portage held their annual tree lighting ceremonies and Holiday Celebration Saturday evening.
A horse drawn wagon with carolers led participants over to Celery Flats where there were beverages, music and a chance to meet Santa Claus.
Residents were also requested to bring with them items they could donate to low income residents like Hats, mittens toys and non-perishable food items.
The winners of the “I Love Portage” essay contest are Ariston Petropoulos, a fourth grader from Haverhill Elementary School and Owen Crocker, a sophomore at Portage Central High School.
The winning essay was read at the event.
