KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The new College Football Playoff rankings have been released.
Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson are 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
The Wolverines are ranked fifth, giving them an outside chance of making it into the playoffs if Colorado beats No. 4 Washington in the Pac 12 Conference Championship this weekend.
Western Michigan University has jumped from No. 21 to No. 17 in the playoff rankings released Tuesday night, and is now the clear leader among the “group of five” teams. Navy is ranked 19th and could leap-frog the Broncos with a win this weekend, but only if Western loses.
Broncos running back Jamauri Bogan, who has just returned to the team after an injury, says the team doesn’t spend alot of time worrying about or discussing all the media speculation and jockeying for position in the rankings. They say they can’t control that, all they can do is focus on football and being the best they can be.
If WMU beats Ohio on Friday for the MAC Championship, they have the inside track to the Cotton Bowl.
