KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — There was a light drizzle in Bronson Park for the official tree lighting ceremony last night but that didn’t seem to deter the crowd who participated in the reading of ‘A Visit from St. Nicholas’ by Clement Clark Moore.
Then they flipped the switch on the lighted Christmas decorations in the park. Mayor Hopewell received assistance from Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus.
Added this year was new lights and decorations funded with $25,000 by the Robert and Thelma Foundation. There was music, Ice sculpting, donations to Loaves and Fishes and plenty of Christmas caroling.
The Holly Jolly Trolley is rolling again, and downtown merchants will be discounting items because it’s Small Business Saturday.
