KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Western Michigan University has now gone 11-0 after beating the Buffalo Bulls 38-0, earning their second shutout of the season.
The team managed to avoid all the distractions of having the national media in town, in addition to the hullabaloo of having ESPN’s GameDay on campus. As P.J. Fleck put it, they just “smothered” the Bulls for four quarters.
The Bulls managed to return the favor for at least the first quarter, which was scoreless.
The Broncos managed to score a couple of touchdowns before half-time. Then Western just dominated the second half of the game.
Corey Davis added the MAC conference record for career catches to his list, snagging 13 balls for 173 yards and two scores.
Quarterback Zach Terrell passed for 445 yards and four touchdowns, his best yet.
Their next game will be a bigger test. They will play the 9-2 Toledo Rockets at Waldo Stadium on “Black Friday,” the day after Thanksgiving.
Only the entire season and their chance at a major bowl bid will be on the line.
