KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — ESPN’s College Gameday will be coming to Kalamazoo this Saturday. It’s their big weekly pre-game show that kicks off their college football coverage.
Coach P.J. Fleck says it’s another first for Western Michigan University.
They will set up their outdoor studio on the mall in front of Sangren Hall.
They are coming to Kalamazoo because the Western Michigan University Broncos are 10-0, one of only two remaining undefeated teams in Division I. The other team is the No. 1-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide.
The cable sports show runs live from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be an area for live spectators which will open a few hours before the broadcast begins.
The Broncos are still No. 14 in the Associated Press rankings and No. 21 in the Coaches Poll, despite quite a bit of shuffling in the rankings because of a number of upsets and surprise defeats Saturday, including Michigan’s loss to Iowa.
Because of that loss, the Wolverines dropped two spots to No. 4 and they were replaced at No. 2 by Ohio State. We will find out where Michigan and WMU stand in the College Football Playoff rankings after this weekend’s games Tuesday evening.
After he was told GameDay was coming to WMU, Fleck told the Detroit News that “it had never happened, and we’re up to 49 things that have never happened here at Western Michigan.”
They had better bring their long underwear. Forecasters are predicting much colder temperatures and possibly snow this coming weekend.
