BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — It was a bit cool for a dip overnight, but that didn’t keep a man from driving his car into the north branch of the Kalamazoo River near Dickman and Capital Ave. S.W. in Battle Creek at about 12:45 Sunday morning.
A witness saw the car go in and called 9-1-1. The first arriving officers spotted the man floating down the river.
The victim was yelling that he couldn’t swim and he thought his ankle was broken. An officer managed to get into position, wade in and pull the man to shore.
No information about the victim has been released, other than that he was transported to Bronson Battle Creek for treatment.
Tests will be conducted and the investigation is ongoing.
