KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo’s three first-term state representatives will all get second terms, some winning more easily than others.
Both John Hoadley, D-Kalamazoo, and David Maturen, R-Vicksburg, smoked their opponents by better than two to one.
It was a much closer race for Brandt Iden, R-Oshtemo, who once again beat back a challenge from John Fisher with the help of campaign funding from the Michigan Republican Party and the governor.
Iden had a six percent edge over the pastor from Oshtemo Township.
He said they will go back to face a flurry of bills in lame duck session soon. He says first on the agenda will be energy reform.
Fisher said he is still proud of the campaign he ran and says he will continue to serve the people of the area, if not from the state house than certainly through the church.
Statewide, Democrats had high hopes they could flip nine seats and take control of the state House, but they have struggled to seize even one seat away from the Republican majority.
