KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety is offering its condolences to the family of a 17-year-old from Kalamazoo who was killed when he struck a bus on his bicycle.
Investigators say it appears the teen lost control of his bicycle rolling down the hill on Millview Avenue and slammed into the side of a Metro Transit Bus, which was traveling on Burdick Street.
WItnesses told Kalamazoo Public Safety that Kendall Dontrel Savon Jackson was going too fast and could not brake when he shot through the stop sign at the intersection and was killed when he went under the bus.
Lt. Craig Habel said resuscitation efforts were begun, but the teen did not respond and he was dead at the scene of the crash during the noon hour Thursday.
Kalamazoo Public Safety is apparently reviewing video taken by a security system in the bus.
