PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence was back in Michigan, just days after his last visit to the region, stumping for Donald Trump in Kalamazoo.
This time, he brought with him Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
Cruz was one of the last of the more-traditional Republican candidates in the race. It got nasty at the end, with Cruz vowing he would not endorse Trump. Apparently, he changed his mind, and now fully endorses the Trump presidential run.
Pence attacked Hillary Clinton for her emails and her handling of Benghazi. He also urged supporters to get to the polls.
Pence is scheduled for a rally Friday in Lansing.
Hillary Clinton has also scheduled a rally for Detroit late this afternoon, in what will likely be her last stop in Michigan before the vote on Tuesday.
Apparently, the Air Zoo has taken some criticism for hosting yesterday’s appearance by Pence and Cruz. They received a number of calls and other messages, with people claiming that they’re taking sides or offering an endorsement of the Trump ticket. They have issued a page-long disclaimer denying that.
“The Air Zoo offers a variety of event spaces which individuals and organizations can book for a fee,” officials at the facility said. “As a result, our location regularly hosts events that can include weddings, corporate functions, meetings, dinners, parties, and, occasionally, events of a political nature spanning the entire spectrum of affiliation and views.”
While it may have looked like they were doing more because of the dramatic backdrop provided for the stage, an Air Force fighter jet, the Air Zoo claims their non-profit status prevents them from taking anything other than a neutral stance.
