KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — A 10-year-old boy is dead after being hit by a car in the 4200 block of West Main Street.
It happened after 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Kalamazoo Township Police Lt. Bryan Ergang said the boy, who is from Kalamazoo, was trying to cross the five-lane street near the Popeye’s restaurant in the rain, in an area without a pedestrian crossing or traffic controls.
The boy was loaded on board an ambulance and taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Tests are being conducted and the investigation is open, but it does not appear as though the 52-year-old driver from Kalamazoo was under the influence of any substances.
No names have been released pending the notification of relatives.
