KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Hospice of Southwest Michigan says it’s holding a workshop in advance of Thanksgiving that will highlight how to get through the holidays after the loss of a loved one.
Debra Coning is with Hospice of Southwest Michigan. She says the holidays can be difficult for those who are mourning.
“Unless you’re going through it or have experienced it, you really don’t understand,” Coning said. “So, people coming to our workshop will be with people who get it.”
She says the workshop will focus on coping and how to apply loss to existing holiday traditions.
The event will conclude with a special candle-lighting ceremony. It’s set for Nov. 10 at the organization’s Portage facility on West Centre Avenue.
The event is free. Registration is not required, but it is preferred. Those looking for additional information are urged to call (269) 345-0273.
