BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A Battle Creek man is in critical condition after he was shot once in the lower chest in the 200 block of Cherry Street just before 11:00 Saturday night.
Police say it appears the 48-year-old man was standing outside when several shots were heard.
One of them hit the victim squarely in the torso.
Officers made contact with a 26-year-old Battle Creek man several blocks away and took him into custody as a person of interest for questioning.
A firearm was recovered.
Investigators are asking for any help from anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or seen anyone leaving the area.
