KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — At a sometimes emotional event, Bronson’s Children’s Hospital unveiled before-and-after photos of some of their neo-natal patients back when they under care, and what they have grown up to become since.
The photo exhibit, called “Pictures of Hope,” is art with a purpose and should encourage the parents of future patients that there are better days ahead. Pictured are normal healthy toddlers, teenagers and adults holding their baby photos, when they weighed just a few pounds and spent days to months in the neonatal intensive care unit.
The patients and their parents each got to unveil their own photos during the event.
Julia Cretsinger had three babies spend time in the NICU and her eyes welled up with emotion when she saw the photos.
“It makes me feel good to be part of it, so there is hope for other families,” Cretsinger said.
The photos will hang on the wall of the NICU and an online photo album is being developed complete with patient stories.
Photographer Linda Hoard gets the credit for creating the photos.
