KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Michigan Deer Crash Coalition is urging drivers to be on the lookout for deer after a particularly deadly 2015.
Deer collisions make October through December one of the most dangerous times to be a driver in Michigan, no matter where you live.
“You think of deep up north,” Lori Conarton, the chairperson of the agency, said on Tuesday. “But actually, the majority of the crashes occur in southern lower Michigan, particularly in counties where there has been a lot of development.”
Eleven vehicle-deer collision deaths were reported last year, Conarton said. That’s up from six in 2014.
A pair of those fatals occurred in Kalamazoo County.
