KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A bomb threat shut down Kalamazoo’s bus transfer station downtown for a short period Friday evening.
It’s something you just don’t even joke about these days.
A man was overheard saying there was a bomb on board a Metro Transit Bus as passengers were disembarking at the Transportation Center at Burdick and Kalamazoo at about 8:15 p.m.
That set off an evacuation procedure, the bus was vacated, PSO’s and the bomb squad were called and the surrounding area was cleared until the bus could be searched.
When no bomb was found, they turned their attention to the man who made the threat, who escaped the scene on the Gull Road bus.
The 47-year-old from Kalamazoo was located, still on the bus, arrested and booked into the County Jail for making a bomb threat.
