KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Michigan Department of Transportation says it will close a portion of the Interstate 94 business loop near downtown Kalamazoo later this month.
The agency will close East Michigan Avenue from Harrison Street to King Highway on Oct. 24.
“We’re doing some utility work, and you kind of have to close the road underneath it,” MDOT spokesperson Nick Schirripa said. “Folks are going to be detoured around it. Depending on which way you’re coming, there will be different detours.”
That work should be done by Oct. 31, Schirripa said.
Deck repairs will also close the Kilgore Road bridge over I-94 and Parkview Avenue bridge over U.S. 131 at around the same time.
