KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A Kalamazoo Public Safety officer was injured after a chain of events that began with a citizen reporting a domestic assault to the downtown beat officer at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
During the investigation, the public safety officer found marijuana and was about to arrest the man when another man, a 28-year-old resident assaulted the officer and fled.
He was chased to a parking lot and taken into custody after a short struggle.
Both the officer and the suspect suffered minor injuries and after treatment. The 28-year-old was booked into the Kalamazoo County Jail for resisting and obstructing a police officer.
Meanwhile, the original suspect took off in the other direction and remains at large.
