KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo County residents can now track crime in their area online.
The data is now live at CrimeMapping.com.
“You’ll type in ‘Kalamazoo County’ and you’ll pull up all the calls in the past week in the county of Kalamazoo,” Sheriff Rick Fuller said.
It’s the same system the city uses.
“The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety already had this thing in place,” Fuller said. “So, we started talking to the company that was selling them the information, and it made perfect sense to partner with this company because we had some of the same systems that the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety had.”
Fuller said discussions to implement the system came about after residents requested to know more about what’s happening in their neighborhoods. He also said he hopes it will show citizens just how safe their communities are.
