NILES (WKZO-AM) — Despite a viral post on Facebook saying otherwise, Michigan State Police say there’s no killer clown lurking through the woods in Niles.
The post had been shared 4,600 times as of Sunday. It was posted by a man, allegedly after his pit bulls were startled by what they saw from a Niles backyard.
However, investigators with MSP say they’ve seen that photo before. Though they didn’t say when or where it was taken, they clarified that it was originally linked to another investigation.
Police also warned that, with Halloween forthcoming, more stories of monsters and killer clowns be hitting news feeds in the coming weeks.
Similar social media threats locked down schools in Alabama last week.
