Kalamazoo’s Larry Bell, owner of Bell’s Brewery, Inc. and life-long Chicago Cubs fan, will sing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” during the 7th inning stretch of Thursday night’s game between the Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers.
According to MLive.com, Bell won the opportunity to sing at a silent auction benefitting Cubs Charities. He has been a Cubs fan since his childhood days growing up in Park Forest, Ill. Bell will head up to the broadcast booth from his season-ticket seats behind the Cubs’ dugout around the top of the 7th inning.
Bell will sing the traditional “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” with the Wrigley Field-inspired lyric change “Well it’s root, root root for the Cubbies!” included. Since all singers are featured on the Chicago Cubs Radio Network during home games, you will be able to hear Bell sing the 7th inning stretch on 1660 The Fan, Kalamazoo’s home for Chicago Cubs baseball. A source at Cubs’ flagship 670 The Score was unsure whether Bell would be interviewed by Cubs’ long-time play-by-play announcer Pat Hughes, but if Bell is interviewed it will air either in the bottom of the 6th or the top of the 7th innings.
Bell’s singing debut comes on a night where a Chicago Cubs victory will clinch their first National League Central division titile since 2008.
