KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety has no tolerance when it learns of anyone carrying guns illegally in the city and they get even more involved when they are used illegally.
Dispatch received a call from a resident at about 4 a.m. Tuesday that he had just had a gun pointed in his face. The victim gave a detailed description of the assailant and said it happened on some of the cities meanest streets on the north side near Lawrence Street, Ada Street and Burrell Avenue, just off North Westnedge Avenue.
Cruisers were dispatched and one of the officers spotted the suspect at a distance. The suspect may have spotted him too, because he took something from his waistband and discarded it.
They took the man into custody and retrieved a hand gun from the location where he had been standing.
The suspect is a 40-year-old Kalamazoo man was booked at the Kalamazoo County Jail for a list of charges including for carrying a concealed weapon, felony firearm, felon In possession of a firearm and on several outstanding warrants.
