WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO-AM) — The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear Attorney General Bill Schuette’s appeal to restore a legislatively approved ban on straight ticket voting in Michigan this November.
That means Michigan voters will have the option available when they vote this fall.
Yesterday was the drop-dead deadline for a decision on whether the single oval on the ballot that permits voters to vote for all the candidates of one party will appear on that ballot.
The ballots have been shipped to the printers, and it will be too late to change them.
It’s just a temporary stay. Whether the ban returns depends on full hearings on the lawsuit filed by Common Cause challenging the law.
