KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety says they have identified the 20-year-old Kalamazoo man who vandalized 20 homes, a car and a trash can with graffiti early Sunday morning in the Vine Neighborhood.
They were able to track him down using video obtained from the area.
Sgt. Chad Vanderklok claims their suspect admitted he was responsible for most of the graffitti when they confronted him with the charge and that they found evidence that was still in his custody.
The vandalized homes are on Vine, Park, Dutton and Potter streets near downtown Kalamazoo.
Detectives are waiting to total up the tab for damages before taking their case to the prosecutor and asking that anyone who suffered damage, drop off a repair estimate or the bill for the work at public safety.
The victims might just get their money back if the suspect is convicted and restitution is part of the sentence.
There could also be a stiffer charge filed depending on the total damage estimate.
