KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Derek Jeter isn’t the only high profile athlete visiting Kalamazoo this week.
Hall of Famer Nancy Leiberman, who has played basketball at the collegiate, professional and Olympic level, been an ESPN analyst and is now one of the first women to coach in the NBA, was in Kalamazoo to dedicate her 30th DreamCourt.
Lady Magic actually sank a basket from half court, throwing the ball back over her head. It took her a few tries, but she did it.
The special high-quality basketball courts are designed for outdoor use and are funded through her foundation, in collaboration with Sport Court and WorldVenture Foundation and are located in underprivileged communities to encourage achievement though sport.
Kalamazoo’s has been built at Northeastern Elementary on behalf of the Eastside Boys and Girls Club. Derek Jeter was on hand for the ribbon cutting Thursday morning. The Court has a Jeter theme.
