DECATUR TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputies who were dispatched to locate a felony suspect in the 39000 block of 76th Avenue in Decatur Township ended up arresting a half-dozen people on a variety of gun and drug charges.
There may also be some other charges, like child neglect and possession of stolen property thrown in. The sheriff’s deputies found a small arsenal of guns of multiple shapes, sizes and calibers.
They also found a number of different illegal drugs, including methamphetamine, marijuana and analogues. They found three men and three women and one young child living in small travel trailers on the property.
One of the trailers was stolen. They also found stolen street signs on the property. Two of the suspects were already wanted on outstanding warrants. All six will face new drug and gun counts.
The child was turned over to child protective services. They will conduct a separate investigation into neglect charges.
