OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — It has coming right down to the deadline, but looks like there will be a West Main Street bus route out to Meijer this fall after all, but the transition to save the bus line may be a little rocky.
Oshtemo Township declined to continue the route as the system makes the transition from city of Kalamazoo ownership to a Transportation Authority, but has apparently had a change of heart.
CCTA Chair Linda Teeter informed the Kalamazoo Township Board last night during a routine report that it looks like they have a deal for the funding.
Oshtemo officials are considering a $50,000 contribution. She says Meijer has agreed to pick up the difference to continue service to their store, but not to rival Walmart up the street.
Teeter said there could be an interruption in service because they will transition to the new route system on Sept. 6th and the next Authority meeting isn’t until six days alter. They wouldn’t be able to approve the deal until then.
