KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office is commending the deputies who helped restore order during the sentencing of a convicted killer.
Willie Warren, a relative of 17-year-old Temetrion Hegler, lunged at Hegler’s killer, Bruce Embry, during victim impact statements Monday.
Sheriff Rick Fuller said the deputies quelled a tense situation by restraining Warren and subduing Hegler’s emotional mother.
“Because of them, things were restored in the court very fast, nobody was injured and the suspect was arrested immediately,” Fuller said.
The 53-year-old Embry was given life in prison for the January shooting death.
