KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The National Transportation Safety Board has issued a preliminary report on the biker tragedy in Cooper Township, that killed five and left four injured.
The report details what happened on north Westnedge Avenue, saying that suspect Charles Pickett Jr. was allegedly under the influence of muscle relaxants and pain killers and had been driving erratically for some time prior to striking the bikers.
There was no new information in the report.
The NTSB usually investigates transportation incidents because they want to find ways to prevent them in the future, not just find causes or place blame.
That final NTSB report could still be months away.
The Kalamazoo investigation is the first they have done involving bikes in decades.
