ARLINGTON TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — A high-speed chase in Van Buren County late Monday has resulted in the arrest of three people.
During the 15-minute chase, occupants of the vehicle threw objects at the police cruiser, causing some damage. Two of them had to be rescued from burning wreckage when the car went out of control and hit a tree on 44th Street in Arlington Township.
The driver jumped out after the crash and fled on foot, but was tracked down by police dogs and arrested for fleeing and eluding.
He is identified as Walker Wood of Kalamazoo, who was wanted on three outstanding warrants, and was driving without a license or registration. Passenger Ryan Grady was wanted on five outstanding warrants.
A 24-year old female passenger will face the same new charges as the other two, resisting arrest and malicious destruction of police property.
They were treated for minor injuries and lodged in the county jail.
