PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — The teenager convicted for striking and killing a Paw Paw woman while being chased by police has been given seven to 15 years in prison.
The family of the victim says it’s not enough.
David Mills was driving on a suspended license while intoxicated when he first fled Kalamazoo Public Safety officers, then was chased by Portage police on a rainy night in early January. He was racing down Oakland Drive when 33-year-old Crystal Norton pulled out of a store parking lot and was killed when their two cars collided.
That crash was one reason Police altered its policy on high-speed chases and will no longer chase drivers wanted only for traffic violations.
