KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Over 1,800 children are expected to attend this year’s “Back to School Bash,” which will take place the Friday on Kalamazoo’s north side.
Cindy Hines, who is with the Family Health Center, said the event near West Paterson and North Rose streets this year will feature games, a petting zoo, prize giveaways, other attractions and food.
“We’re packed to the gills with vendors,” Hines said. “Usually, we have about 20 vendors, but this year we have about 26 vendors and I’m still looking for places to put them.”
Each child in attendance will get a backpack stuffed with enough supplies to get through the school year. The children will need to have a wellness exam on file and be up-to-date with their immunizations to gain entry, Hines said.
Registration is also required. Registrations will be taking place on site, but the center urges parents to register their children before the event takes place.
The center can be contacted at (269) 349-2641. The celebration will get underway at noon.
