KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Some of the nation’s best young tennis players will compete at Stowe Stadium on the campus of Kalamazoo College beginning this Saturday.
Director Mark Riley says stakes are high at the United States Tennis Association Boys’ 18 and 16 National Championships.
“The winner of our 18 event gets a wildcard into the U.S. Open, they get to play with the big boys,” Riley said. “That goes for our doubles winners as well.”
A special exhibition is also set for Saturday night.
“Michael Russell, a Michigan native, he’s playing and he’s an exciting exhibition player,” Riley said. “Also, the Wimbledon sensation Marcus Willis will be playing.”
A kids clinic is also planned this weekend. Tickets to the exhibition and next weekend’s semifinals and finals are $10.
