KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo’s most-dangerous intersections last year seemed to be concentrated on the city’s West side.
At number one, KL Avenue and Drake Road, which is well-known for its high pedestrian traffic. There were 65 collisions reported there last year.
Interstate 94 and Sprinkle Road, which came in second, was under construction for much of the year and was down to one lane. It earned an asterisk in the report by the Michigan Auto Law Center.
Third was Howard Street and Stadium Drive. It’s a pedestrian-heavy intersection, and it’s complicated by an Amtrak crossing.
Drake and West Main Street, with its double turn lanes was fourth. Ninth and Stadium was fifth, which was being rebuilt this year.
Three of the top five and half of the top ten are either inside Oshtemo or on the edge of the township.
The others in the top ten are scattered around the community.
