KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Election officials in Kalamazoo County say absentee ballot numbers were high for Tuesday’s primary.
Kalamazoo County Clerk Tim Snow said turnout settled at an unimpressive, yet expected 14.67 percent, but he also says he was surprised by the number of absentee ballots that came in.
“(There were) about 11,000 (absentee ballots) out of 27,000,” Snow said. “That’s a high number, and we’ll continue to see that grow.”
Snow says good weather, multiple unopposed races and dissatisfaction over voting procedures kept polling place lines short.
