BRANCH COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — The DEQ is asking residents to avoid contact with the water in the Sauk River in Branch County following the discharge of partially treated raw sewage into the waterway.
Friday’s heavy rainfall is being blamed for the overflow and resulting contamination.
Water samples have been taken but the results won’t be available until Monday.
Officials say that the chance of high fecal coliform counts for the next few days is possible, primarily from the wastewater plant site down to Rotary Park.
