KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer was responding to a call in the 500 block of Bryant Street in the Edison Neighborhood, when he spotted a suspicious vehicle driving in the area.
Soon after the vehicle went out of sight, the PSO heard six gunshots come from the area where it disappeared.
He drove to the spot and saw two men get out of the vehicle near Belford and Vernon.
The vehicle sped away as he approached. He managed to detain the two subjects and call out a description of the vehicle.
It was stopped and the driver arrested after a .40 caliber handgun was found in the vehicle.
They also found spent .40 caliber casings at the scene of the shooting.
The investigation revealed that a front seat passenger fired the gun but what he was shooting at was not mentioned in the police report.
The 34-year-old driver was arrested for Carrying a concealed weapon, driving drunk, possession of marijuana and a possessing a gun while drunk.
The 25-year-old who allegedly fired the gun is being held for CCW, being a felon with a gun and discharging a gun from a vehicle.
A third man, who was 26 was arrested for violating parole.
All three were booked into the County Jail until they can be brought before a judge for formal charges and a bond hearing.
