COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — A Grand Junction woman accused of leading police on a bizarre slow-speed chase through Van Buren County’s Columbia Township has been charged with multiple crimes.
Deputies say she was intoxicated, on probation and wanted on an outstanding warrant.
They claim 31-year-old Jennifer Vernier weaving and driving over the centerline late Sunday night. A deputy tried to pull her over, but she refused, continuing to drive along and allegedly taking swigs of beer as she traveled.
She finally stopped on Baseline Road but refused to exit the vehicle. Sheriff’s deputies say when they they tried to pull her out, she struggled with officers.
She was booked into jail for her second drunk driving offense, resisting arrest, fleeing and eluding, violating probation and open intoxicants.
They say she had a blood-alcohol count that was exactly twice the legal limit.
