VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — If you are wondering if police are still arresting people for marijuana — yes they are, particularly when the suspect leads police on a high-speed chase.
Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputies say that’s what 43-year-old Eric Robert Overway of Holland did just that Sunday evening when a deputy tried to pull him over for a registration violation. He fled down County Road 388, turning onto 62nd Street. Deputies say he then parked his car in a driveway and fled on foot into a wooded area.
The officer caught up to him after about a quarter-mile and made the arrest.
Overway was wanted for failing to appear for a court appearance on a previous marijuana charge. They found a small amount on him last night.
They have added a second possession count and resisting arrest to the list of charges he already faced.
