UNDATED (WKZO-AM) — Meteorologists from the National Weather Service are calling this heatwave a “heatdome”, its like the entire Midwest is trapped in a car on a sunny day.
Dr. Ulf Herlwimmer . a West Michigan Allergist says heatwaves of this kind not only affect allergies, but it affects the heart, lungs and every system in the body, especially the kidneys.
The State of Michigan reminds you to make sure you check on the elderly and your pets too. They need water and a cool environment in the heat just like humans do.
Today the heat isn’t the only thing out there that may make you miserable.
The air quality itself will be an issue.
The combination of heat, humidity and pollution blowing over from the other side of the lake and coming out of car exhausts over here has triggered a clean air action day.
Do everyone a favor by not mowing the lawn, firing up the grill or filling your car until after 6 p.m.
Neighbors with respiratory problems will thank you.
