STURGIS (WKZO-AM) — Sturgis Firefighters not only had to battle flames and smoke but the excessive heat as they were dispatched to a burning home at 205 N. Fourth just after 3 p.m. Friday.
The first crews on the scene discovered light smoke coming from the eaves of the two story home, and they also learned from neighbors that the homeowners were not around.
Fire crews forced their way in and quickly knocked down the fire, containing the flames to just two rooms.
Despite the quick response there was significant heat, smoke, and water damage to the structure and contents of the home.
