VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — A Covert Township Police Department rookie has just resigned following allegations made by a woman that she was sexually assaulted by the officer.
The woman claims her boyfriend was stopped and arrested for drunk driving, but instead of being taken to jail, he took her to a Paw Paw motel where she was raped.
No charges have been filed so far.
Covert Township Police Chief Jay Allen said he contacted Michigan State Police a week and a half ago after the woman accused the officer.
The incident allegedly happened after he was off-duty.
The officer in question had only been on the force for a few months.
